Puffin Run - Vestmannaeyjar
Puffin Run in Vestmannaeyjar took place on May 2nd, but the uncertainty around the event had already started about a week before race day.
Due to difficult sea conditions, there was talk that the race might have to be postponed.
At the time, ferries were sailing from Þorlákshöfn rather than Landeyjahöfn because of conditions at the harbour, and we were told that some crossings were taking several hours longer than usual. Everyone was waiting and hoping they would still be able to make it to the race.
We had our ferry tickets booked and originally planned to travel to Vestmannaeyjar with our newly branded HUMAN+ car and set up a small station with a table somewhere around the event. In the end, we decided not to make the trip to the island itself. But then we realized that if everyone was travelling to Vestmannaeyjar from Þorlákshöfn, we could meet the runners there instead.
So that’s exactly what we did.
Because of the weather and travel conditions, only around 500 runners ultimately made it to the race, compared with approximately 1,800 who had registered.
But we’re very happy to say that we managed to connect with the vast majority of those who did make the journey and introduce them to FLOW, and HUMAN+.
The response was incredibly positive. Some of the feedback came directly at the harbour, some reached us later through Instagram, and we’re still seeing the effect today - at other events, people occasionally come up to us wanting to try FLOW because a friend received a sample at Puffin Run and told them about their great experience with it.
That kind of word of mouth is exactly what makes these events so valuable to us.
Today, we can already see the countdown to Puffin Run 2027 on their website. With much more time to prepare this time around, we hope we’ll be able to work with the organizers and create something great together for next year’s race.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, spoke with us, tried FLOW, or got in touch with us afterwards. We really appreciate every single interaction!
